Course Introduction：

This course focuses on the field of house design in modern Japanese architecture which has been influential in the world, and places house design in the context of architectural thought, rather than being confined to the genealogy of Japanese architects.

Students are guided to comprehend how theoretical methodological innovations can be developed into current practice methods in the discipline of architecture, to develop basic competencies in the study of everyday space and design research, and to develop design innovations from traditions, providing the necessary reserves for subsequent design and theory courses and practices. The influence of traditional living spaces on contemporary architectural culture is illustrated through case studies, enhancing students' awareness of inheriting outstanding local traditions from an international perspective.

关注在世界建筑中有着相当影响力的日本近现代住宅设计领域，将民居研究与住宅设计置于建筑思想的视角下，而不囿于日本建筑师承关系的单线，着重讲授民居研究阐发的问题如何能激发设计中的思考， 而建筑师又如何在作品中回应特定的思想议题（比如，筱原一男与丹下健三 60 年 代的辩论就是其中的一个典型）， 引导学生理解基于传统的理论方法创新如何能发展为当下建筑学科的知识产生和实践方法，培养学生掌握关于民居研究和设计 研究的基本能力，具备从建造传统中发展设计创新的能力，为后续设计及理论课程以及工程实践提供必要的储备。通过案例说明传统住居空间对当代建筑文化的影响， 增强学生基于国际视野传承本土优秀传统文化的认识。
